About our concrete contractor crew in Compton

A freshly poured concrete driveway with expansion joints leads to a brick house, bordered by a lawn and landscaping.

How I got into concrete

I spent my summers on concrete crews all through school. I set forms, pushed wheelbarrows and learned to finish from people who'd been at it for decades. After years on other people's crews, I opened Superior Compton Concrete here in Compton in 2021. Most of our calls come from homeowners and small property owners in Compton and the cities around it. We're best known for careful driveways, patios and steps, and we also take on foundations, walls and cutting, all listed on our home page.

What I care about most is the part you can't see once the pour is done. That's the base the slab sits on, where the water runs off, and the control joints, the grooves we cut so a crack follows a line we picked. Those decide whether a slab still looks right years from now. Concrete can still crack, so I'd rather explain a limit up front than have it surprise you later.

What working with us is like

  • You talk to the person doing the work

I come out to look at every job myself, and I'm on site with our own crew when we do the work. The person who wrote your estimate is the one standing on your driveway, so you never have to explain things twice.

  • Our time goes under the slab

We dig out and pack the base instead of raking the dirt level, and we check where the water runs so the slab falls away from your house. The base is the first thing people want to cut from a budget, but a nice finish on a weak base settles with the dirt. That's why we spend our time there.

  • A straight answer, even a smaller one

If one section or a few steps is all your job really needs, I'll tell you so, even if you called about the whole driveway. Your written estimate spells out what's included, so you can line it up against other bids.

Our licenses and how permits work here

  • California contractor license

Fully licensed and insured. California's state licensing board requires a licensed contractor when a job needs a building permit, uses hired workers or costs $1,000 or more in labor and materials combined. Check the license of anyone you hire for work that size.

  • Compton business license and permits

The city requires anyone doing business inside Compton to hold a business license, renewed every year, and every permit application needs a current one. Compton's Building and Safety department handles permits in person only, and the rules differ in the other cities and county areas we work in. We check with the right office for your address and handle the permit side before we set a start date.
